Summer Meal for My Loved Ones
Tuesday, 4 August 2009
My dad and his wife were in town for a visit this past weekend. It’s been almost a year since we’ve had a nice long visit with them, and it was wonderful to see them. The kids were so thrilled to see their grandparents, and the Daddy Monkey and I were thrilled to be offered a much-needed night out.
After several days of eating out, I offered to cook a meal for everyone. I do love cooking for a crowd (even if it is a crowd of only six)! I decided to make my famous chimichurri sauce.
SUMMER MEAL FOR SIX
fresh sangria
sirloin with Chimichurri
brown rice
steamed broccoli
corn on the cob
tostones
The meal was delicious, and the company was just as good!
ROSE’S SANGRIA
1 bottle red wine (I used an Argentinian Malbec)
1/4 cup brandy (or rum)
2 cups orange juice
6 Tablespoons lemon juice
1/4 cup honey (or sugar)
1 large bottle lemon Perrier
sliced fruit
Chill all ingredients in refrigerator. Combine, stir well, and drink over ice.

You must have been on Daddy Monkey’s shoulders to take that first great photo! Looks delicious and summery. And so very chic on your table of white. Can’t wait to try your sangria!
